We’ve had some cracking Ballrooms recently. There is just so much amazing talent out there. Keep it coming I say!

 About WOOD…

 WOOD is a new festival celebrating music and nature in the beautiful surroundings of Braziers Park, Oxfordshire on May 16th /17th/ 18th 2008, from the people behind TRUCK festival.

WOOD is more than a music event: as well as a strong and diverse line-up of (mainly) acoustic acts on 2 stages, there will be opportunities for everyone (from children to grandparents!) to participate, with workshops covering everything from singing to hay-bale construction

Plus-  local organic food and drink and campfire sing-along, composting toilets, showers heated by wood-burning stove and a solar-powered stage made of… WOOD!

What a fantastic Ballroom we had in February, one of the best since the move to the Portcullis Club (speaking of which, we’ll have been there a year in March!).

We were treated to great stuff from some of the Ballroom stalwarts (thanks folks!),  including a welcome return from Capable Jake, a second outing for Ugly Dog Poetry (keep up the good work - poetry always welcome) and 3 acts who had never been before. Carla Marie treated us to some impressive guitar playing, Darrell and Barry played some rousing songs (great use of the snare drum chaps) and finally the person who really stood out for me - Amo. She played a great version of Fisherman’s Blues - a Waterboys classic and she more than did it justice.

Pictures from the night are now on the site (follow the gallery link ). The official Ballroom Photographer was ill and I took over for the night. This explains the general crapness of some of the pictures…

Last week was the 3rd Champions of the World Club. These nights are getting better and better. If you missed out, the next one will be on March 22nd at the Portcullis Club.
